Spring Break in Switzerland

After arriving in Geneva

Four generations - visiting Raph's grandfather, Henri, on Raph's 32nd birthday

Raph's Aunt Soula prepared an amazing birthday dinner.

The birthday boy! Raph's cousin took these next few shots of us at the birthday dinner.

I love this guy!

Sophia with her Grammy.

Ready to eat!

Making a wish! It was great to be with Raph's family for his special day!

A family shot. (The jet lag started to get to Sophia - she was a little sleepy here but such a trooper throughout the entire trip.)

Aunt Judith took us to Gruyere for a wonderful day of sightseeing and eating fondue! The town is simply beautiful and one of my favorite spots in the whole world.

Outside the hotel with our Swiss Miss Sophia!

Dad and I on our way to Grenoble. The view was breathtaking.

Stopping for gelato. Yummy!

Sophia loves her Great Aunt Judith.

Visiting cousins Myriam and Jean-Christian on the last day of our trip.

Our trip to Switzerland was great! We saw so many sights with Raph's European family as our wonderful tour guides. Being with family you are able to experience the true Suisse life and we enjoyed every minute of the touring, visiting, shopping, and eating through Switzerland.

During our stay, we celebrated Raph's birthday and it was wonderful seeing Raph's grandfather and introducing him to his great-granddaughter. Pierre-Maurice came up from Montpelier, France (bearing many gifts including about 20 bottles of wine) to see us and it was so special seeing four generations all together. Raph's three wonderful aunts took very good care of us during our stay and treated us to many meals, gifts, and rides all over Switzerland. Raph's eldest aunt, Judith, brought us all to tears (especially Mom) when she told us of the school she founded in Africa. She named the school Sophia because she said the our Sophia was the future and she wanted to help provide a wonderful future for the children at her school. Amazing, right? I posted a link on the blog with more information about Ecole Sophia.

Speaking of Sophia, she amazed us all with how well she traveled and adapted to the different time and the lack of schedule. She flew like a champ and slept in her hotel bed like she was at home. Mom and Dad were a huge help with Sophia and they really made the trip great. Overall, the trip was a huge success and lots of fun. We look forward to our next European vacation hopefully not too long from now....

The start of spring break and a bridesmaid's weekend

We are back from Switzerland and I am busy organizing videos and photos from our trip. I will be posting a Switzerland entry soon, but Spring Break started with another wonderful trip to NYC/NJ with my best friends in the whole world...

Annie, Kate, and I at the Hoboken, NJ St. Patrick's Day parade.

As soon as WFS's Spring Break started, I took a train with my best friend Kate to visit our other best friend Annie in the Big Apple. On a quest for bridesmaid's dresses for Annie's upcoming wedding, we had several appointments at various bridal salons and it didn't take us too long to find the perfect dresses. After dress shopping it was off to Hoboken for the St. Patrick's celebration of the century. Seriously, these folks don't mess around. We saw a parade and met lots of Neil's friends. Anytime the three of us are all together we have a ridiculously fun time! We are so excited about Annie and Neil's wedding this July!

When I got home from NYC, it was great to see Raph and Sophia. This was only the second time I had ever left Sophia and the first time I left her for more than one night. She, of course, was fine, after all, Daddy, Grammy, and Pop had taken good care of her all weekend. When I saw her though I couldn't believe how much she had grown in only two days. A true reminder of how much little ones grow and change everyday.
