We are going to miss you!

I love this photo!

Raph and I heading to the end of the year faculty party at WFS.

My family

Raph leaves early tomorrow for Nicaragua with ten WFS students for a school trip. He will be gone three weeks and Sophia and I are going to miss him terribly. Thank goodness for webcams and Skype so we can see and talk to him regularly. I will post the link to the blog that Raph keeps while they are in Central America.

Sophia and I spent Memorial Day in Rhoadesville with Mom, Dad, and Granddaddy. Mom and Dad were finishing up some projects down at the house so Sophia and I decided to join them for lunch and I little relaxing after their work was done. We had a fun day in the country!

Woodberry's graduation was such a wonderful event - the weather was beautiful and it was the first year we had a senior advisee graduate. Den came to WFS the same year we did and it was bitter sweet watching him walk to get his diploma. We will miss him but we are so proud of all that he accomplished at WFS. During the graduation, Sophia and I enjoyed spending time with the other WFS families on the lawn.

Recital 2009

My little Good Ship Lollipop girls

Lining up for the finale

My Musical Theatre/Tap girls getting ready to perform

Before the show

This year I had two dances in the recital and it was so much fun working with my two groups of dancers. My Pre-Ballet class danced to The Good Ship Lollipop and their sheer cuteness lit up the stage! My Musical Theatre/Tap class danced to We Go Together and I was so proud of their performance. Way to go girls! While sitting in the audience I could hardly wait until Sophia's first recital!

Happy Mother's Day!

It was lots of fun celebrating my first Mother's Day! I slept in (a little) and then we went to church for the baby dedication ceremony. Mom, Dad, Raph, Sophia and I went to lunch afterward and enjoyed being together. Then, it was off to play practice and Mom and Dad took Sophia to Granny Herndon's for dinner.

Sunday was also Sophia's 6 month birthday and we can hardly believe that she is already a half of a year old! It seems like in the last week Sophia started doing so many things! She "waves" her hands and reaches for everything in sight. She's eating, rolling, and pulling up all the time. She can pull up to her knees but she has not quite figured out how to get to her feet - yet. We can wait a while for that! Sophia is so busy that sleep is not really on her list of things to do lately. She still takes her 2 naps a day but the sleeping through (or almost) through the night has stopped - hopefully this is only a short phase. She is also showing signs of teething and that may be the biggest culprit of all.

"Look what I can do!"

Working hard

"I see you!"

Where it all started....

Today I was folding laundry on the bed so I put Sophia in the laundry basket next to me with some toys to play with. She was playing along for a few minutes when I looked down to see her put her hands on the side and pull herself up to her knees! She was so pleased with herself and I couldn't believe my eyes! When did she get so big? I called Raph and he came home to witness her new trick. Since then she pulls up on her crib, the stool, my leg, or anything else in sight.

Sophia and Ella's first playdate

Jodi and Ella with Sophia and I

"Hello!"

Ella showing Sophia how to blow bubbles.

The sweet girls

Sophia and Ella, great-nieces to my Aunt Cindy and Uncle George (Ella is on Aunt Cindy's side and Sophia on Uncle George's), got to play with each for the first time at my cousin Jami's baby shower. Sophia and Ella are only eight days a part (Ella born 11/2/08 and Sophia born 11/10/08) . They were so sweet playing with each other - they reached out for each other and played footsie. Ella was blowing lots of bubbles and the next day Sophia started blowing bubbles!

The parents to be!
