An exciting weekend!

Sophia in her spring dress waiting for the girls to arrive for the formal.

It's springtime at WFS and everything is so beautiful! This weekend was the formal and we hosted 5 girls in our home. It was fun being a part of all the hustle and bustle around campus and formal weekend always reminds Raph and I of our high schools days when we went to the formal together. On Saturday the weather was beautiful and it was fun to take Sophia to the pool for the first time! She was a little sleepy and the water was a little cold but I still think it was a good introduction to one of my favorite spots in the summertime. The weekend ended with a cookout on the lawn Saturday night.

Where did the time go?

then...

and now!

A few weeks after Sophia was born our digital camera broke and had to be sent off for repairs. I was so happy when it came in the mail last week that I started taking pictures right away. When reviewing my pictures I saw pictures that I took when Sophia was just 2 weeks old. What a difference a few months makes!

5 months old and LOVING IT!

So much has happened since Sophia's 5 month birthday on April 10th. She rolled over from her back to her front and although repeat performances take a little coaxing, we are so happy to see that she is finally on a roll. Sophia can sit up all by herself and is able to reach for toys (hair, eye glasses, earrings, etc.) with no problem. She continues to be so curious about her surroundings and will turn her head towards whoever is talking or making noise in the room - it's pretty funny. She would rather sit up than be in any other position which continues to make tummy time a slight challenge.

Sophia and I went to her first Little Gym class with my friend Lorae and her daughter, Harper. It was so much fun singing, jumping, rolling, shaking, and exploring. Sophia had a look on her face the whole time that was priceless like, "this is the coolest place ever!" We appreciate Lorae and Harper inviting us to try out the class and we look forward to returning to the Little Gym later on this week.

Since the rice cereal experiment (4/10/09), Sophia is loving this whole solid food thing. She is eating rice cereal with a lot more success than the first time - practice does make perfect! And, this week we introduced apples and bananas and which she gobbles down happily.

It is never a dull moment with our little one and everyday we are delighted and amazed with what she is able to do. Sophia is a bundle of joy and with every look, babble, giggle, snuggle, and coo we fall even more in love with her!

Sophia really "got into" her basket! She loved it!

"Do you like my Easter bonnet?"
(This was my bonnet when I was little.)

Four generations at Granny Herndon's for Easter dinner.

It was an action packed Easter weekend with a get-together in Fredericksburg on Saturday with family and then a full day of festivities on Sunday. We enjoyed celebrating with Sophia this year and can hardly believe it was a year ago when we shared the news with Mom and Dad that we were expecting - time flies!

The Rice Cereal Experiment

We celebrated Sophia's 5 month birthday with a rice cereal breakfast. It was not a huge hit with Sophia but it was very entertaining for Raph and I. It was a messy experiment and we hope Sophia likes it more the next time we try this yummy meal!

"What is this stuff?"

Yummy?

These are a few of Sophia's favorite things Vol. II

This is the latest edition of Sophia's favorite things. I did fail to include one of Sophia's new favorite toys, the box of baby wipes on her changing table. It makes for a great bongo drum and always makes her very happy!

Aunt Robin and Granny Herndon visit Sophia

We had a great visit with Granny and Aunt Robin, while she was in town, on Wednesday. It was fun to catch up and to enjoy an afternoon together.
